I thought this was interesting to me because I agree that cognitive biases can make our judgements irrational and I think it is very common today. Since the human brain has evolved to shortcuts in our thinking, our cognitive biases can often lead us to lose objectivity within our thinking.

After reading about the cognitive biases, I think it’s safe to say that we all know someone who falls into each of the categories(obviously). Most of us have certain ways of thinking but how does that breakdown? Now knowing that the cognitive biases have a massive impact on the way we think and judge circumstances, it’s cool to see the breakdown of how each bias is described.

We all have diffferent biases. I think knowing about the diiffernet types of bias is important, but I think it is most important to simply recognize that we all have bias, and we have to recognize when that bias comes up in order to form evidence based opinions and beliefs.

I definitely believe these cognitive biases are related in one way or another. I didn’t realize how many there were but after learning about them in class I see them being applied in my life as well as others around me.

This might be one of top favorite resources. Understanding the different biases overall made me more self-aware with my actions and thoughts and applying these in certain situations. The Spotlight Effect stuck with me the most as Professor Matthews (in a recent class) mentioned that nerdy t-shirt study. I will be sure to look back at these in reference to helping to understand my own self-awareness as well as how I think others might take differences,

I actually really enjoyed learning about cognitive biases and I think we can all say we know someone that fits into each one of these biases. I think it’s important to be able to recognize these biases and understand the meaning of them all.

Everybody has their own opinions which cause biases and sometimes that may clash with someone else, I do agree that sometimes we can be irrational and maybe not realize it.

I enjoyed learning about all of the cognitive biases in class the other day. I did not realize that there are so many! I feel that one of the most common cognitive bias’s is confirmation bias. Being aware of confirmation bias is important because it impacts how we gather information and interpret it. For instance, someone who supports gun control may interpret stories about shootings in the media in a way that supports their existing beliefs. Conversely, someone who is opposed to gun control might seek new sources that are aligned with their position.
