📈 Reliable Sources Tell

Too often people make blanket claims about “the news media,” “the mainstream press”, or just “the media.” Not only are these generalizations typically false, but they miss the point that what we call “the media” is not any single thing or institution, but a whole huge collection of many different individuals, organization, alliances and other social groups, playing specific roles in a broader social context. Yes people within this tangled mess of publishers, websites, TV stations, newspapers, press bureaus, etc do coordinate their efforts at times in a variety of ways. But when assessing ANY claim at all that you get from a media, or news source, it helps to get particular. Know your sources. See what they have done in the past. How many times do they just report facts, embed those facts in a plausible larger context, embellish those facts with speculation for partisan reasons, outright make things up? There is a great project that does just this.

I like this resource a lot and I have used it multiple times to check the bias of news outlets. What I like about it is that you can clealy see that bias in the media is t a left or right issue. Both sides have bias and it doesnt do any good to pretend that one side is less biased than another.

Right!! and post-learning about the methods that make a valid argument and premise, I can understand furthermore what makes for a reliable and little-bias news article, website, or general sources. I never would have thought to look up or even come across a source like this media chart so I’m glad this source has come up.

This resource gave a good visual of different media outlets that skew left and skew right. Many of these media outlets have different views as well as different approaches to sending content out to the public. It is good to know what sources are biased and what stories may be overexaggerated, that is why I like to look at multiple sources and viewpoints.

Wow I did not know that a site like this existed. Very interesting and perhaps very useful depending on the methodology that was used to analyze and categorize.
